Just contact a current Helper and if they can, they'll give you an interview. Please assume all interviews will take 'at least' a half hour.

Helpers are here to aid new players in becoming self-reliant. Thus, they will often suggest hints or help files rather than giving a direct answer. Purpose: The main purpose for the Newbie Helpers is to:

  • assist newcomers to Aardwolf.
  • answer questions from all players of the MUD.
  • present newbies with a "nice face."
  • and, most importantly, help newbies in becoming a self-reliant, autonomous addition to Aardwolf.

Thus, Helpers will gladly jump to answer any of your questions, and will almost always suggest help files rather than giving a direct answer. So, if you want to be told how to play you'll find them suggesting you check out MUDschool (located up from recall, be sure to read all the signs as you go).

Player Dont's: DO NOT ask a Helper for help on quests, campaigns, or in leveling; this is simply not their purpose.

Added lines 1-25:

Those that carry the Helper flag are chosen from volunteers to assist newcomers to Aardwolf. They do various tasks such as retrieve corpses for people that may have died in hard-to-reach areas or to aggressive mobs and answer general questions. Although they can't give out solutions to puzzles or take you to your quest target, they may give advice or directions to aid reaching an area. Type "who helper" to see a list of Helpers that are available at the moment. Even if none seem active, you may want to ask your question on the newbie channel- other players or Immortals may be around to answer your question.

Helpers are here to aid new players in becoming self-reliant. Thus, they will often suggest hints or help files rather than giving a direct answer. Do not ask them for direct help on quests or to 'just tell me the answer'; this is not their purpose and will not help you once you have left the Newbie channel.

If you have asked a Helper for assistance in corpse retrieval or some other matter and they ask you to do something, they are trying to help you, so please don't be suspicious if they ask you to make your corpse lootable, etc.

In order to become a Helper, a player must have reached level 100 on Aardwolf and have been playing at least 350 hours on the game. They must demonstrate both a good overall knowledge of the game, and a willingness to help other players, particularly new players. Players wishing to apply for a Helper flag should speak to Aerianne or post a note on Personal board to 'helper'.
