The following issues regarding note options can be considered 'dead' and
not worth arguing for/against.
- Many 'note to' groups are good ideas; however, checking access to notes
is one of the most CPU-intensive tasks the MUD performs, and adding more
target groups would make this even worse. This also includes 'note to
- Because of the current note system structure, it is not possible to skip
notes by certain players or with certain thread names. 'Note peek <num>'
can be used to look ahead without having to reset note read pointers.
- Voting approval/disapproval of notes would mean storing votes for every
note for every player and accessing this information every time votes are
checked, which is simply not possible.
It is hoped to eventually move to a web-based forum system that can be
accessed from the MUD. This will open up several options that are too
resource-intensive for the MUD.
