This area was designed to help new players get a feel for the commands and idea behind the game. As a result it is levellocked, which means if you are above level 5 you can only access the final part of the area, i.e the arena. If you are going through this area for the first time I recommend you read all room descriptions and type "READ SIGN" in every room.
Your goal when visiting this area as a newbie should be to graduate. You get a diploma to show you've done it, and a ring. Not great equipment, but perfectly sufficient for a new player. Also keep your eyes out for the visitor band, this is needed as a key for the Lowlands Paradise area. The first door in the area is locked, so you won't get far without it.
Finally, regarding new players, you can find further information by typing "help newhelp" or by reading your guide which your character has to start with. Read page1, read page2...etc. If you lose your guide, you can purchase another at the map shop, or type "outfit" if you are below level six. Good Luck Adventurer.
